WVU Center for Astrophysics

Hello, My name is Stas Edel. I am a senior undergraduate student here at WVU. I am majoring in physics and minoring in astronomy.

10423_138610124891_713579891_2615986_2067203_n Astronomy has been a huge passion in my life since I have been very young. I knew that I wanted to get into a physics program and do exciting research at a very young age. Coming to WVU has opened a great amount of research possibilities, and I ma very glad I have made a choice of coming here. Currently I work with doctor Pisano in a project that has to do with detecting HI emission from gravitationally lensed galaxies using the Green Bank Telescope (GBT). I also work with doctor Lorimer and doctor McLaughlin on a GBT Magnetar Monitoring project, and I have participated in several other pulsar projects like Drift Scan and PALFA.
I have had a really great time here at WVU. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
